Fastest way of decorating zebra with tissue paper

I have a Spanish class where we need to create a piñata I want to use your rainbow zebra. I have like two or three weeks to work on it in my class. What’s the fastest way to decorate it to you?

Answer from Piñata Boy

When I made my zebra I glued the snipped crepe paper strips horizontally on the piñata, then fluffed it upward.  That meant I had to glue on thousands of lot of short pieces of crepe paper, and that took hours and hours.  You could speed this up by laying the strips on vertically instead of horizontally, and then fluffing them sideways.  Once it’s fluffed it will still have that festive piñata look to it, but by using fewer, longer strips the whole decorating process will go faster.  If you have limited class time, you can cut the tissue paper or crepe paper at home.

And as always, apply the glue to the piñata first and then lay the strips down.  When I first started making piñatas I applied the glue to each individual strip of crepe paper and then stuck it onto the papier mâché, and that took a lot longer.  Decorating got a lot faster once I started putting the glue on the piñata instead.  You can see how I apply glue to the piñata and then lay down strips layer by layer in these pictures of the Tropical Fish piñata.  Scroll down to the decorating steps and click on the picture to enlarge it for a better look.

If you find yourself running really short on time, the fastest way to decorate a zebra piñata is probably by painting it, so don’t dismiss that option.  My zebra was rainbow with black stripes, but you could also make one rainbow with white stripes (or just a black and white zebra).  If you use white stripes, you can paint the whole thing white one day, and when that’s dry add all the colored stripes.

¡Buena suerte!
