Help with a lawnmower piñata?

How to make a lawnmower piñata? Thanks.

Answer from Piñata Boy

Imagine what it would look like before decorating, then break it down into sections.  The lawnmower piñata in the picture has a box shape on top, plus the body of the lawnmower underneath, and then a handle made up of two long cylinders and one short one.  The easiest way to make something with this kind of structure is to use thin cardboard for the main part of the lawnmower, and maybe a couple of wrapping paper tubes or paper towel tubes taped together for the handle. Just make the shapes you need using thin cardboard, tape them together, and apply papier mâché over it to cement them in place.  Just be careful not to apply a lot of wet papier mâché all at once on the thin cardboard, or it can absorb water and get wavy.  You can probably hide any waviness in the decorating stage, but it’s best to avoid it if possible.  The black square on top and the red body of the lawnmower can be made as separate candy compartments, or combined as one. This piñata has two hanging hooks, and you will probably want to use more than one hanging hook to make sure the lawnmower hangs level.

The piñata in the picture has a flap on the back of the lawnmower and two wheels on each side, but those can be done in the decorating stage after the papier mâché work is done.  It looks like they used paper bowls spray-painted black for the wheels, but you can use anything from paper plates to plastic jar lids.

Good luck!
