Summertime

DSC_0048

I made this 36 in pinata for my 9 year old granddaughter. I used a balloon and paper mache with a dash of salt. I also used paper tissue of different colors for the butterflies, flowers and background (sky, sun, grass). I made all the butterflies, bumble bees, caterpillars with paper tissue, pipe cleaners, glitter. This was the largest pinata I’ve made so I wanted to make sure It would be stable and sturdy. I followed your instructions on “adding a hanging hook”. It hung but as the children started swinging at it, the pinata was too heavy it broke at the tip of the clothes hanger and dropped to the ground. It was filled with 10 pounds of candy and the hanger I bought was not sturdy enough. I was questioning my husband about this hanger from Walmart, but he talked me out of NOT buying it. Now I should of gone with my instinct. I allowed each child to take a SWING at it!!! 🙂 They all received their bags and collected candies, butterflies, bumblebees and caterpillars! Your website was such a inspiration to me and thank you for all your suggestions. Keep up your good work and I love your pinatas!!

Wow, that’s beautiful! The kids always want to take home pieces of the piñata as souvenirs, and I’ll bet they all wanted your flowers, butterflies, caterpillars, and bumblebees. That’s really nice work. Sorry to hear about the hanger itself breaking — I’ve never heard of that happening before, but I’ll be more aware of that possibility on my own piñatas, especially the heavy ones.
