Hi! I’m a big fan of your work. Thank you for all the tips an resources.
I was wondering if you have a rule of thumb for estimating how many regular sized rolls (i.e 80 ft) of crepe paper to get, particularly for something about the size of the hello kitty pinata. I need the color grey which seems more rare for streamers and am debating between getting individual rolls from Walmart or a case from dollar tree. Thank you!

Thanks for the kind words!
As a very rough guideline, one standard 80 foot long roll of crepe paper streamer will cover about 240 square inches of piñata surface (1.6 square feet), assuming that the unsnipped backbone of the streamer that you’re gluing down is about 1/4 inch wide. That’s a conservative estimate, and you’ll probably get a little more coverage out of it than that. To give you a rough visual, three sheets of 8½ x 11 computer paper laid out side-by-side is about 280 square inches. So expect that one 80 foot roll will almost cover three sheets of paper worth of surface area. But not all streamer rolls are 80 feet long — some are only 70 feet and some are 72 — so take that into account as well.
Good luck with your Hello Kitty piñata!
Thanks, helpful for making a Totoro pinata for my daughter.
