There are a lot of different ways you could approach making a person piñata depending on how big you want to make it, how realistic or cartoony you want it to be, and so on. A cartoonish person piñata could be done using two balloons, one for the body and one for the head, with toilet paper tubes for arms and paper towel tubes for legs. You could also make a larger person piñata similar to the way I made the Warlord of Nibblecheese piñata, which has arms and legs made from long balloons. Or you could make a piñata where the arms are right up against the body and the and legs are together, so the piñata is really one big hollow shape, and you distinguish the arms and legs in the decorating.
If this is your first piñata and his graduation is fast approaching, you might consider doing a ball from his favorite sport instead. The papier mâché work will go faster, and you can make the piñata really special in the decorating — instead of a generic baseball, for example, it could be customized with his school colors or his uniform number or something like that. If you do a Google image search for baseball piñata or basketball piñata you’ll see lots of different ways to decorate one. You can also give a baseball or basketball piñata more personality by adding a face, or even giving it small arms and legs from cardboard tubes as mentioned above.
