Hoot the owl

this is of hoot the owl who is a character on the ABC for kids channel here in australia. I made this pinata for my son’s second birthday.
it was heaps of fun making it. i joined 2 balloons together to create head and body and then out of cardboard i made wings and the beak and the detail on face and the heart. i used toliet rolls for the legs and cardboard for feet then taped that all on and paper mache the whole thing. then i used crape paper to decorate it all and used cable ties to create the hooks on the back for was unable to get hold of a wire clothes hanger.
my son totaly loved it. it was one of those moments when it came to finishing it that i wish we didnt have to smash it …. but i knew we couldnt keep it long term. was super fun smashing it though. been years since i last smashed a pinata. i make them every year now for birthdays and other special events. Thanks for inspiring me.
