lalaloopsy

I made this pinata for my niece’s 5th birthday party. For the head and belly i used a 16 inch punch balloon, fully inflated for the head and half for the belly. I attached them with a cardboard (cone shaped) collar to form the neck and upper body. The arms were made using twist balloons and the legs and shoes I formed out of cardboard . I used about 8 layers of paper mache for the head and body and 4 for the arms and legs. The hanging hook I attached inside the top part of the belly balloon then through the neck and out the top of the head. I put a cardboard disk inside the head where the hook came out to prevent the wire from tearing the hole bigger. The piñata was 49 inches tall. It held up VERY well. It took an adult to finally break it up completely.
Thank you sooooo much for all your tips and instructions. I could not have made this as well as I did without your help.

That’s really cute from head to toe, and I love how the clothes came out! Eight layers is a lot — sometimes a large balloon needs more layers just to keep from collapsing in on itself, so when I have to use more than three layers I usually weaken the walls by stabbing holes in it all over. But I’m sure the kids had a blast whacking away at this one! Nice work!
