How do I make just the superman symbol as a pinata

How do i make a superman symbol pinata

Answer from Piñata Boy

The best way to make piñatas with large flat surfaces is to use cardboard, so that’s how I would start.

To make a Superman symbol piñata, I would cut out two pieces of corrugated cardboard in the diamond shape of his chest symbol to be the front and back of the piñata, and cut a long strip of thin cardboard that will be attached around the perimeter of the diamond shapes to become the sides of the piñata. The reason I would use corrugated cardboard for the front and back is that thin cardboard tends to bend or become wavy, and you want a good, flat surface for the Superman logo. This corrugated cardboard is going to be almost impossible to break, but once the kids damage the thinner side of the piñata, they’ll keep attacking the weak point to break it open. Or you can score the corrugated cardboard in a couple places with a razor blade to weaken it. (But there’s also a certain sensibility in not scoring it, so the Superman logo is nearly invulnerable and only the sides can be broken open.)

Decide how thick you want the Superman logo to be (how much distance between the front and back logos), then cut your thin cardboard strips two inches wider than that. You’ll fold over one inch along each long edge of the thin cardboard strip and glue that to the front and back diamond pieces. You can glue them on the inside or on the outside, since you’re going to decorate over it to hide it anyway.

The front and back of the piñata really don’t need any papier mâché to stiffen them up, but the sides of the piñata will need a layer or two of papier mâché. I would overlap the papier mâché across the joint where the thin cardboard meets the corrugated cardboard in order to reinforce the glue. You’ll also want to add an extra layer or two to the top of the piñata to make sure the top is strong enough that the hanging hook is sturdy enough to support the weight of the filled piñata while it’s being whacked.

The papier mâché work should go quickly on this piñata, and then you’re ready to decorate.

Good luck!
